The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two teenagers; Kehinde Oloyede, 18 and Abiodun Ishola, 19 over alleged gangrapping of a 14 year old girl in Obantoko, Odeda Local Government area of the state.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the incident occurred on Saturday when the victims was going to a shop where she was learning hairdressing.
The PPRO said the victims was unaware of the environmental exercise declared by the state but was informed by Abiodun who also offered her abode while the restriction lasts.
Abiodun was reported to have stylishly took her bag to one of the rooms in his father’s house while he sent for his friend, Kehinde, unknown to the victims.
When it was time for the girl to proceed to her apprentice shop, Abiodun reportedly asked the victim to go inside and pick her bag.
Oyeyemi said it was in the process the two suspects overpowered the girl and gang raped her.
He further said that the screaming of the victim alerted the neighbours who rushed to the scene and rescued the girl.
The statement read in part, “Police in Ogun State have arrested two men for raping a 14 year old girl in Obantoko area of OdedaLocal Government Abeokuta.
“The two suspects Abiodun Ishola, 19 and Kehinde Oloyede, 18 years were arrested following a complaint from the victim (name withheld) who reported that she is a hairdressing apprentice and that she was going to her boss’ shop unknown to her that there was environmental sanitation exercise going on.
“She stated further that Abiodun who was sitting down in front of his father’s house informed her of the restriction of movement and asked her to come and stay in their house pending when the exercise will last.
“While she was staying with the said Abiodun, he stylishly took her bag inside and when she wanted to leave, he told her to go and pick her bag from inside, not knowing that he has sent for his friend Kehinde who later joined him and they both forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
“It was her screaming that attracted people who eventually rescued her.
“Upon the report, the DPO Obantoko Division, Veronica Osakwe led detectives to the scene where Abiodun Ishola was arrested, and his arrest led to the eventual arrest of his accomplice Kehinde Oloyede.”
The PPRO said both suspects confessed to the crime after interrogation while the victim was taken to hospital for medical examination.
Meanwhile the Commissioner of Police CP Ahmed Iliyasu, according to Oyeyemi, has ordered that the two suspects be transfer to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
