A 25-year-old man, Abudullahi Wahab, who allegedly stole bundles of assorted lace materials has been docked at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Wahab is facing three -count charge bothering on stealing and conspiracy before Chief Magistrates Aje Afunwa.
The Prosecutor, Insp.Peter Nwangwu, told court that the accused and others at large committed the offences on June 15, 2017 at No.26 , John Street, Idumota Lagos.
Nwangwu said the accused on the said date stole a total of three hundred bundles of assorted lace materials valued at ten million, eight hundred and sixty -five thousand naira (N108,865,000,00), a property of Alhaja Joko Ojora.
‘The accused, on another occasion , at No.3, Fasina Street, Mushin, Lagos also stole eighty-five bundles of lace valued at one million, seven hundred and eighty-five thousand naira (N1,785,000,00), property of one Alhaja Bimbo Imran.
According to the prosecutor, the offences committed by the accused contravened Sections 411, 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Aje Afunwa granted him bail in the sum of N900, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said the sureties should be gainfully employed and must show evidence of a two-year tax payment to the Lagos State Government, as part of the bail conditions.
Afunwa thereafter adjourned the case till Feb.28, 2018 for mention.
