The incumbent governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode has accepts his opponent, Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the next Lagos governor.
Ambode in live broadcast on the National Television about 3:30pm on Wednesday afternoon conceded to the party’s wish.
According to him, the people of Lagos state have choosen.
“I thank our party leader, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support always, I also want to other party chieftains and my deputy governor, Idiat Adebule.
In the short life telecast, Ambode also thank Lagosians for the support given to him during the three and half years he spent as the governor of Lagos.
Few weeks ago, Sanwo-olu picked a nomination form to contest for the Lagos state governorship seat against the incumbent governor, Akinwunmi Ambode who is also a member of the Redeemed Christian Church Of God.
He has also declared that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, whom many referred to as the A PC God father in the south-west can not ask him to step down for Ambode because he is in the race to give Lagosians proper representation and improve on the things on ground.
Sanwo-Olu is the current chairman of the Lagos State Property Development Corporation (LSDPC). His foray into politics began in 2003 under Tinubu’s watch when he was appointed the Special Adviser on Corporate Matters to then Deputy Governor, Femi Pedro. He moved up the ladder after a year when he assumed the same position, this time, as an aide to Tinubu.
