Former member of the defunct Bendel State House of Assembly, Chief Michael Ogheneochuko Oghenekaro of Owhrode, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State is dead.
The news was related to pressmen on Wednesday in at a conference, where son of the late MP, Mr Gabriel Oghenekaro disclosed that the patriarch of the Oghenekaro family died in the early hours of Wednesday August 19, 2020 after a protracted illness at the ripe age of 88.
Born in 1932 into the family of renowned Church Worker of the Anglican Faith, the Late Philip Abi Oghenekaro of blessed memory, Chief Michael Oghenekaro was described as a true soldier of Christ and a faithful disciple who fought for the progress of Udu with all his might and strength, earning him the traditional titles of Esemugboja of Udu Kingdom and Emuisigbalor of Olomu Kingdom.
‘’Papa was a London trained Goldsmith and a renowned businessman who served his people as member of the defunct Bendel State House of Assembly representing Ethiope South-East Constituency during the second republic in the year 1983. He was a thorough-bred parliamentarian with a deep sense of political history and experience.
‘’He was a committed community leader and elder who served his people of Owhrode and Udu Kingdom diligently until his very last breath. He was Chairman of Owhrode Elders Council and senior member of the Udu Traditional Council.
‘’Papa was a committed Christain of the Anglican Communion with a great sense of tolerance for other people’s belief. He is survived by wives, many children, sister and numerous relatives. Burial arrangement to be announced later’’, Gabriel Oghenekaro added
