A driver and two soldiers have been arrested and aare currently in police net over alleged theft of an official car belonging to a Chief Magistrate(names withheld) in the Lagos judiciary.
It was gathered that the driver whose first name was given as Timothy allegedly stole the Honda Civic jeep belonging to the magistrate and drove it to Abuja. On getting to Abuja, he called the two soldiers who were his accomplices but the soldiers allegedly drugged him, put him inside the boot of the car and drove to Kano.
The Magistrate, after searching for the driver and her car reported the case to the police station near her home in Lekki, Lagos. The case was then transferred to State Anti Robbery Squad, Ikeja Lagos. The police was able to trace Timothy to Kano by tracking his mobile phone. He was then brought down to Lagos where he met his boss.
Timothy confessed to the crime and named the two soldiers quartered at Bonny Cantonment as accomplices. The police was able to nab the two soldiers and are presently under arrest. While Army officials want the soldiers to face Court Martial, the police however prefer a civil trial so that the vehicle could be recovered.
Timothy is under detention at Lagos Police Command, Ikeja, while the car is yet to be recovered from where it was sold.
