A 26-year-old house help, Rosemary Benson has been docked before a Lagos Magistrate Court, Ikeja over alleged stealing of the sum of eight million, five hundred thousand naira (8, 500,000), belonging to her boss.
The accused, was facing a two count charge bordering on stealing and conspiracy before Magistrate O. Sule Amzat.
The prosecutor, Insp. Benson Emuerhi told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 18, 2018 at No. 2, Taiwo Ishola Street, Lekki Phase 1, Ajah, Lagos State.
He alleged that the accused stole the money of the complainant, Mr Adekunle Ayodeji Desalu.
Emuerhi further told the court that the accused conspired with others at large to steal the sum of sixteen thousand, seven hundred and fifty pounds (£16,750) equivalent to eight million, five hundred thousand in naira currency.
“The accused who serves as a house-help to the complainant, did connived with others to steal from her boss,” he said.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Sections 411, 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
Magistrate O.S Amzat admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two responsible surties in like sum.
She also ruled that the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government (LASG).
The magistrate thereafter adjourned the matter till May 28 for trial.
