General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch E. Adeboye on Sunday performed the foundation laying ceremony for the 8,500 capacity International Worship Centre in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Designed to have 16 staircases, 6 to 8 lifts, 2 small churches and few chapels, the International worship center is anchored by the Akwa Ibom state government with expected funding from philanthropists, corporate organizations, nongovernmental agencies, and even religious organizations
In his pre-foundation laying sermon, Pastor Adeboye applauded the Akwa Ibom state government for conceiving the vision of building a befitting place of worship for God.
Drawing his ministration from 1Chronicle 17:12-14 and other Bible portions, Adeboye described God as the master builder who builds lives, marriages, people and edifices such as the international worship centre.
He commended the state governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for partnering with God to embark on the project, adding that God works through partnership as can be seen in Genesis 2:21-23.
The man of God expressed optimism that the international worship centre will be successfully completed within two years.
The G.O of RCCG prayed God to reward Governor Emmanuel for putting God first in the administration of the state.
In his address at the foundation laying ceremony, Governor Udom Emmanuel said the building of the worship centre was in honour and acknowledgment of God’s benevolence to a state which is named after God.
Akwa Ibom, according to Emmanuel has been blessed with past leaders who put God first, hence the progress and prosperity experienced in the state over the years.
The Governor however advised politicians and critics in the state to eschew politics of bitterness, but to rather contribute their resources to building the state as well as the worship centre.
