Police Apologise To Afegbua For Declaring Him Wanted
Spokesperson for retired military leader, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, who has been in the news for days now has fulfil his promise by honouring the police invitation.
Kazim Afegbua, was invited by the police over a controversial letter he issued on behalf of his principal.
The Police, rather than detaining the spokesman, apologised to him for declaring him wanted.
The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, had earlier declared Afegbua wanted in connection with a statement he issued on behalf of Babangida on Sunday.
The statement had asked President Muhammadu Buhari to quit the political scene in 2019 for a younger element to run the country.
Kazim Afegbua went to Headquarters with his lawyer, Kayode Ajulo, who had earlier slammed a N1 billion Naira suit on the police, Channels Television and the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, for alledged defamation of character.
He was informed that all that the police wanted to achieve was to find out why there were two different statements in the name of Babangida in one day.
The police officers told Afegbua and Ajulo, that the Force has since been able to establish the truth of the matter.
