Skye Bank Customer Service Offiicer Arraigns Over N1.4m Fraud

The Nigeria Police Force, NPF on Wednesday,  arraigned the Customer Service Officer of Skye Bank Plc, John Alikalih, before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over his alleged involvement in fraud to the tune of N1.4million.
Alikalih was alleged to have fraudulently withdrawn the said sum from two customers’ accounts.
The Customer Service Officer is standing trial before Magistrate Abimbola Komolafe on a three-count charge of fraud.
Addressing the court, the prosecutor, Inspector Abbass Abayomi said the defendant committed the alleged offence at about 1pm on January 19, 2018 at the bank’s Isheri Ojodu branch.
The prosecutor further revealed that Alikalih utilised his position in the bank to fraudulently withdraw N1.1 million from an account belonging to a customer, Mrs Felicia Adesola.
The court was further informed that the defendant also withdrew N334, 052 from an account belonging to another customer, Mrs Josephine Benson.
In the words of Abayomi: “The defendant willfully procured the registration of two Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards belonging to the complainants and used the cards to perpetrate the acts.
“The total amount which the defendant fraudulently withdrew from the customers’ accounts was N1.4 million.”
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 326 and 327 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
But Alikalih pleaded not guilty to the charge, prompting Magistrate Komolafe to grant him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in the like sum.
The matter has been adjourned until February 27, 2018.
