An unmarked SHACMAN truck, Friday crushed two sons and their father to death on the way to school.
It was gathered that the deceased were on a motorcycle with registration number Ogun OG 7613 BA when the truck crushed them.
The incident, according to Babtunde Akinbiyi, the Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Traffic Compliance Agency, happened on Oru bridge, a town close to Ago-Iwoye area of the state.
Akinbiyi who attributed the accident to over speeding on the path of the truck driver said quick intervention of his officer saved the life of another victim who was rescued to an hospital.
Akinbiyi further explained that angry youths and students in the area set the truck ablaze while attacking other trucks that ply the road.
He explained that it was in the midst of the chaos that officers, with the help of other security agencies that they were able to evacuate the dead bodies to morgue of Ijebu Igbo hospital.
He said, “Rescue team reported promptly and succeeded in rescuing one of the victims, a young female child to Blessed Hospital, Oru Ijebu for immediate treatment.
“Upon returning to the scene, youths and students who were already on rampage started destroying the truck involved and one other truck that drove into the scene.
“The bodies of the dead were evacuated in the heat of the chaos to state hospital Ijebu Igbo mortuary with the help of security agencies comprising the FRSC Ago Iwoye, NPF, NIGERIA ARMY, NSCDC, and the VSO’s, who are all on ground to calm the tension.”
