Violence Mars PDP Guber Primary In Bayelsa

The primary election of the governorship of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State was on Tuesday almost marred by violence after some political thugs detonated dynamites near the Ijaw House, Yenagoa, where party delegates were being accredited for the poll.
One person was injured in the confusion that followed the booming sound of the detonated explosives.
It was learnt that the violent thugs were brought into the state by one of the PDP aspirants.
They were said to have been conveyed to Yenagoa between Saturday and Monday from the neighbouring states of Rivers and Delta.
The explosives went off at the Old Assembly Quarters along the Sami Abacha Expressway while the delegates were undergoing the accreditation.
There were reports that the hired thugs attempted to take over the venue of the party’s primaries.
They were however repelled by a combined team of security personnel comprising policemen, soldiers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The accreditation of delegates, however, continued uninterrupted.
