She allegedly committed the offence on Aug. 18, 2016 at Falana Street, Obombom, Ajah Lagos at her residence.

“I own the property in Obombom, but I stays at Ifo in Ogun State. I go check on my house in Ajah once in a while and the day of the incidence, I was within the area to check my property as usual.
“At about 1:00am, I received a call from the defendant’s co-tenant that the defendant had stabbed her boyfriend, Edet Ubong.
“I instructed them to report the matter at the police station and I also set out immediately. We both met at Obombom police station where they told us that they were short of manpower, but we should go and fetched the deceased.
Ikusegbagbe also told the court that on getting to his house, she met crowd and the defendant was also at the scene.
” She was calling the deceased name, telling him to stand up, that it was a mistake. The deceased did not get up because he was bleeding from his stomach as a result of a knife wound.
“We got a tricycle and took him to the police station and we were asked to take him to the hospital. We took him to Onibudo Specialist hospital in Ajah.
” On our way to the hospital, he started speaking his language (Calabar) which only the tricycle rider can understand. He gave us his contacts of his relatives and co-workers and we put a call through to them.
“We all met at the hospital and he was admitted to the hospital.”
The witness further said that the deceased was later referred to Odan General hospital in Lagos Island.
” I left for my home after that but I later got the information that Edet Ubong had died.
While being cross-examines by the defence counsel, Femi Atteh, the witness told the court that he was not present at the scene of the crime, he was only called by one of his tenants after Blessing stabbed his boyfriend.
Oladimeji Kazeem, another prosecution witness and a police with the State Criminal Investigative Department , SCID Panti also testified before the court in the ongoing trial.
“The case files of Blessing Edet was transferred to his department on Aug. 20 for investigation. She was brought and she gave her statement voluntarily”, he said.
Counsel to the defendant, Atteh however objected that copy of the defendant ‘s statement should not be admitted into evidence because she did not give it voluntarily.
Atteh, prayed that the court should allow trial within trial to establish if the defendant s’ claim was taken voluntarily or not.
Justice Taiwo thereafter adjourned the matter till Feb.9 for trial within trial.
